¿Cómo hacer un IF(X OR Y) en MySQL?

Question

Quiero crear y definir una columna de una tabla de comandos (donaciones a mi aplicación) en función de si hay una u otra condición de un join (si la persona que me da dinero es un Great Benefactor o el dinero es de una campaña llamada nuit). Entonces intenté

        UPDATE orders
        INNER JOIN contacts ON orders.id = contacts.`Contact ID`
        IF contacts.`Great Benefactor` = true OR orders.Campaign = `nuit`
            SET orders.exclude_from_statistics = 1
        ELSE
            SET orders.exclude_from_statistics = 0
            ;

Pero me devuelve:

Pienso que me equivoco en la condición IF contacts.Great Benefactor= true OR orders.Campaign =nuit`` Parece que es muy pythonista

Una opción es usar la función IF().

UPDATE `orders`
  INNER JOIN `contacts` ON
    `orders`.`id` = `contacts`.`Contact ID`
SET
  `orders`.`exclude_from_statistics` =
  IF(
    `contacts`.`Great Benefactor` = TRUE OR
    `orders`.`Campaign` = 'nuit',
    1,
    0
  );

El uso de IF en MySQL es bastante complejo. No has considerado usar en su lugar la función CASE?

Te quedaría algo mas o menos así:

CASE
WHEN contacts.Great Benefactor = true OR orders.Campaign = `nuit` THEN orders.exclude_from_statistics = 1
